Whole Wheat Maple Graham Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/3 cup raw sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp cardamom
- 3 Tbsp. honey
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 tsp pure maple extract
- 1/2 cup butter, melted (or you can use 1/2 cup coconut oil)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350F.
Place all your dry ingredients in the bowl of your mixer and combine. Add all of the wet ingredients and mix with the cookie paddle attachment until everything comes together. If the dough doesn't come together put more water, about 1-2 tablespoons.
Divide the dough in half and roll half out on a floured surface. Roll out the dough in between plastic wrap until about 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters, cut out desired shapes. Transfer the cookies on a parchment-paper-lined cookie sheet, poke them with a fork few times, and bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges just slightly darken. They will harden up more as they cool. Store in an airtight container.

October 4, 2012 at 2:01 pmWith such great ingredients it too bad you don't use real maple rather than extract for the recipe. Do you think it'd work with maple sugar in stead of raw sugar? Then you wouldn't need the extract and it'd be a truly natural recipe!

October 4, 2012 at 2:47 pmEM, I am sure with real maple it would be amazing and healthy. At the moment I dont have a maple sugar, but thank you, I will try to buy it for next time.

November 2, 2015 at 4:49 amDo you think maple syrup instead of honey would be okay with these? I don't have the extract and still want the maple flavor. They look so nice!

November 2, 2015 at 7:35 pmLisa, yes, absolutely, you may use the maple syrup, but flavor is not going to be as strong if you use the maple extract.

April 21, 2019 at 7:13 amHello Anna, there is no secret and I love to share everything I know about cooking and kitchen tools. I think I got this cooky cutter in Home Goods store, but it was a few years ago. They have an amazing collection around fall. I hope you can find them if not, you can do something similar like acorns, maple leaves and such. Thank you for visiting!
